Teams and Clubs

Home of the Thunderbirds!

Physical activity and Physical Education are very important to the wellbeing of our students and form an integral part of our school culture and atmosphere.

Physical Education:

In order to ensure maximal benefits, Emily Carr students have 120 minutes of Physical Education each week. Participation, positive attitude, sportsmanship, skill development with constructive feedback as well as proper clothing, are the learning components of our Phys. Ed. program. Literacy skills are incorporated into Health and Physical Education lessons as students evaluate, monitor, set goals and try to improve their mental, social and physical wellness. Students also participate in a minimum of 20 minutes of Daily Physical Activity (DPA) on days without Physical Education class.

Inter-Scholastic Sports Teams:

ECMS has a strong history in competition with other schools in our region as well as at the Board wide level. Because of their more competitive nature, inter-scholastic sports teams are developed through try-outs. Students are always given a fair and equitable chance to demonstrate their attitude and abilities in the selection process. Coaches volunteer a lot of time and energy to help support this important aspect of school culture. The Inter-scholastic sports season is as follows:
